Constantin Gehriger and Adriana Gehriger Gil purchased the Cliff Crest Bed and Breakfast Inn on 407 Cliff Street in Santa Cruz on January 31, 2001.
Constantin Gehriger came to Santa Cruz in 1970 in order to do his graduate studies in chemistry at the University of California Santa Cruz. One day some friends invited him to their home downtown. That is where he met Miss Adriana M. Gil who had just arrived from Colombia, South America and was working for the County as a social worker.
The couple was married June 1, 1974. The same year, Constantin finished his PhD and they relocated to Switzerland, where he worked in the international chemical industries. Their daughter Anna was born in 1977 in Basel, Switzerland. In 1988 they decided to move back to Santa Cruz, where they bought a house on Spring Street. In the 1990s, they had the good fortune to share their home with Adriana’s late parents, Alfonso Gil Serna and Bernarda Osorio de Gil.
Constantin Gehriger is a chemical engineer and consultant. See his website at www.constantconsult.com He does environmental and analytical work. He and his family have been collecting antiques and furniture for generations. He spends time decorating their new Bed and Breakfast.
Adriana Gehriger Gil is an active local artist. She is a painter, sculptor, and has realized two murals in downtown Santa Cruz. Hospitality has always come naturally to Adriana. She very much enjoys opening her home and heart to all the guests of the Cliff Crest Bed and Breakfast Inn.
